I know this has been asked in a different way but my husband is a non-practicing Catholic and I am Methodist.?

I do not agree with some of the principles of Catholicism as well as there are somethings that my husband disagrees with it. He is a believer in confession and the Pope. I am trying to think of churches that would be somewhere between Catholic basics and Methodist principles. I am very open-minded and expect the same of any church that I go to. He really feels obligated to be a Catholic church even though he disagrees with some fundamentals because his mother raised him that way even though his father was an atheist. Are there any churches that could be a happy medium for us both? Don't be judgmental in you answers please, because none of us is perfect. I have a very strong distaste for Catholicism since my last visit to church with his mother in Mexico where the priest decided to lecture on how USA had an evil influence on Mexico.
