How do you boot off an existing partition with VMWare player?

I have 3 partitions on my disk: XP, Ubuntu, Recovery. I have installed vmware player in ubuntu, and I'm trying to boot the XP partition. How would I accomplish this. I did it with virtual box but it would hang when loading mup.sys and then BSOD for like 0.001 seconds and reboot. Please help!
